Project 2 Circular main lake pathway completed

A very busy sixteen days in some very difficult weather conditions at times (torrential rain and blistering sun).

Unfortunately we were let down by plant machine suppliers and bulk material deliveries causing the planned completion date to be extended, although the club volunteers took it in their stride and pushed on seeing the task through to completion, we are extremely happy with the results and are sure that Hurst Angling Club members will be too.

A clean level compacted 1.5 metre wide flat top finish for the pathway installed (approximately 235 metres in length) with very little disruption or damage to the lake or the extended banking, blending in perfectly with the surrounding environment, as a small bonus we were able to level up the hollow sections in the main ground at the bottom end of the lake using the extracted soil and clay from the excavation of the pathway.

A tremendous effort from the club members who turned out providing their time, skills and labour has seen our latest project through to completion.

The final stage will be to re-seed the banks bringing the grass back, we are hoping to complete this in late summer.

A huge well done and thank you to everyone who contributed, it looks fantastic, making Hurst Angling Club and our main lake a great place to go fishing and accessible to all.

This project has been supported through the Environment Agency and Tameside Council.

The first angler to use the new pathway commented on how easy it was to get to the pegs and how professional it made whole place look, just superb..
