Hurst Angling Club Rules
1 Fishing is allowed from dawn until dusk only - no night fishing
2 All members are responsible for holding a current Environment Agency rod licence
3 Both entry gates to the water must be locked on entry, and again on exiting
4 Keep Nets banned except for official matches with at least five members per match
5 Bank sticks must not be used within the water of either pond
6 No dog or cat food of any kind is allowed.
7 Hook size is maximum fourteen’s
8 Maximum breaking strain of the hook length line of six pounds
9 Only one hook per rod all hooks must be barbless
10 Only one rod or one pole is allowed to be used at any one time. Fishing from two pegs at once is not allowed.
11 Any rod or pole Must be removed from the water If the angler leaves their peg for any reason.
12 All pole elastics either single or double, must not exceed size 14 poles fitted with double elastic must not exceed the total of size 14.
13 Landing Nets must be used at all times to retrieve fish from the water regardless of size or weight.
14 Membership cards must be carried at all times whilst fishing
15 Litter must not be left on the banks at any time including bottles and cans
16 Unused bait must not be thrown into the water or up the bank take it home.
17 All fish must be treated with respect, the use of Landing Nets is compulsory, holding the fish in dry cloths is harmful and not allowed
18 Any member or visitor removing fish from either pond for whatever purposes will be prosecuted and banned from hurst angling club
19 All members are bailiffs if you see someone on the water you don’t know them ask to see their membership card, if somebody asks to see your membership card you must produce it and show it to them,
20 Hurst Angling Club will not tolerate any form of violence, verbal abuse or threats of violence towards other members or club officials.
21 Junior anglers must be accompanied by an adult and also in possession of a Junior Rod licence
22 Any breaches in the perimeter fence should be reported to the pond Manager,
23 Members bringing pets onto the ponds, the pets must be kept on a lead and any dog mess cleaned up after them
24 Except for cup or fundraising matches, when every peg on the pond is required, Members must be allowed to fish from any peg on either of the two ponds.
25 Under No Circumstances are Members permitted to break any frozen ice on either pond
26 The use of braided or similar constructed line is not allowed in any circumstances.
27 The following baits are allowed to be used on either pond
- Maggots
- Caster’s
- Worm
- Mussels or prawns
- Paste
- Sweet corn
- Hemp seed our tares used as hook baits only
- Pellets under 8 millimetre
- Punched bread
The use of any thrown in ground bait is banned, ground bait if use, must be potted or cupped into the water.
If the bait does not fit onto a hook, it is not allowed.
The following are also banned and not allowed to be used.
- Tinned substances of any kind, food, drink, or bait
- Multiple hook rigs
- Wire traces
- Bloodworm or joker
- Trout pellets or halibut based pellets
- Breadcrumb, or floating bread
- No dog or cat food of any kind is allowed.
- Boilies over 8mm in size
- Pellets over 8mm in size
Fishing Matches
Funds and Payments
Apart from the four fundraising matches that are organised by the designated member, only the match secretary can collect bank and pool fees, the match secretary is responsible to the club secretary for maintaining accurate financial records, supervision of the weigh in and correct distribution of winnings.
At the conclusion of either the Summer or winter league competitions any remaining golden peg funds must be transferred to Hurst, angling club funds. Funds Cannot be carried over, each league to start with Zero funds.
Match Fees
After contacting the match organiser or match secretary to book onto an away match and failing to turn up for that match, the outstanding fee will exclude the member from any further matches, until payment has been made
None Members
Any non member wishing to take part any away match must contact the match organiser or match secretary to check for place availability, allocation will take place on the Wednesday prior to the match
No member or guest, will be allocated a place on the day of the match (you can’t just turn up).
Home Match Rules
All official home matches arranged by the match secretary will be
- Compliant with all Hurst Angling club rules.
- Advertised on the notice board
- Pre Booked by the individual
- Use only Baits that are permitted
- Use fishing tackle that complies with club Rules 7, 12 and 13,
- A landing net must be used to land all the fish, regardless of size or weight.
- Under no circumstances are Members permitted to break any frozen ice on either pond
- All fish must be weighed regardless of numbers or size.
- No fishing before the "ALL IN"
- No fishing after the "ALL OUT" except for a member playing a fish, maximum of ten minutes allowed to land fish.
- No fishing beyond the half way mark, includes the use of rod and line
- if the adjacent peg is empty members either side can fish upto half the peg space
- All tins and all rubbish to be taken away by yourself before leaving the pond
- Any member caught breaking any of the above rules will be disqualified from the match.
