Main Lake circular pathway
Supported through the Environment Agency and Tameside Council, work started on the circular pathway today Sunday May 10th, clearing plastic crates and walking boards that had been in temporary use due to the recent heavy rain falls, the pathway was also marked out as 1.5 metres wide and 1.5 metres from the peg concrete pads to the pathway. This will give an overall hard surface distance behind each of the pegs of a full 3 metres.
An additional task was to unearth and expose the electrical cable that supplies power to the two large aerators on the main lake. The committee also took on board the request from members for additional land drains at relevant points around the lake, typically adjacent to pegs nine, fourteen, fifteen and twenty, a fifteen centimetre internal diameter land drain has been used to run off additional surface water at those points straight into the main lake. Once again, many thanks to the club members who made the effort to turn out, giving up their Sunday.
The treated timber planks that will form the sidewalls of the pathway were placed around the whole lake ready for use on Tuesday.
The plant machines are ordered for delivery on Tuesday 12th May ready to be put into action for the following seven days. For this project we considered which machines to use, deciding to hire lighter equipment causing less disruption to the banks and being more efficient in use for this task.
