Drainage & pathway progress

Basic foundation planning meeting today

Saturday January 10th.

Today members of the committee met on site to discuss the next project, installation of a land drain and a pathway along the west bank, lots of walking on the frozen ground and weighing up potential options, The measuring wheel said we needed 87 meters of land drain and 108 meters of pathway to take the path from the carpark to the lakes water outlet point.  If the pathway was set to approx 20cm deep and 2 meters wide it would take approx 21 cubic meters by volume of product (type 1 MOT), 1 cubic meter is approx 2 tonnes, on reflection we decided to rethink the depth and width as its only going to be used for foot traffic, consideration of changing to 1.5 meters wide and 15/10cm deep.

The black line is the proposed land drain run from the car park  and then into a free draining soak away, the yellow line being the planned pathway, we are still discussing the best materials for use in the  pathway construction

I would go for mot type 3 for the land drain but you definitely need to get the levels and fall right. The path you could use mot1 or pea gravel depending on how much you got to spend

It all looks like it well thought out plan as anybody had any discussion with the Pigeon men giving a donation towards the cost of the land drain for their land is above ours , subsequently there waste water must be finding its way onto our land.

Hi Bernard Thanks for the comment, we haven't spoken to the pigeon men about the planned drainage system but will let them know its happening nearer the time. It would be very difficult to prove the rain water falling on their plot affects our grounds and not really worth getting in to an argument over. The club have submitted a grant application for funding, if successful we are confident this will pay for the work.
